I will present an ongoing work about the charge asymmetry of the top quark at the LHC . After introducing the topic and discussing why the measurement of the charge asymmetry at the LHC is quite challenging, I will show how the associated production of a top pair with a W boson can render such a measurement easier. If, on one hand, the extra W boson leads to an important reduction of the total cross-section, on the other hand it naturally selects only the asymmetric production channel (qq initiated) at the LO, leading to a significantly larger prediction of the asymmetry. Furthermore, the extra W boson polarises the quarks, leading to a highly asymmetric production of the top decay products.
I will present the expected results for the LHC , and discuss a simple BSM scenario to show how this observable can be sensitive to new physics.
