The proposal of Cohen and Glashow (Phys.Rev.Lett. 97 (2006) 021601), that the universe could be invariant under a subgroup of the Lorentz group instead of the full group, offers a solution for the neutrino mass without introducing new particles. In this talk we will review the main features of the model and how the non-local operators present in VSR theories modify QED in 1+1, 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions.

This talk is part of the HEP phenomenology joint Cavendish-DAMTP seminar series.
