This will be an introduction to the concept of a topos, hopefully accessible to Part III students who have been following the Category Theory lecture course. Topos theory is both a bit like set theory and logic and a bit like geometry and topology – this interplay is what makes the subject so fascinating. I will try to give some intuition for toposes by comparing the senses in which they are universes of sets and categories of spaces.
This talk is part of the Junior Category Theory Seminar series.
