The yoga of weights of Grothendieck and Deligne shows that cohomology of algebraic varieties has fundamental underlying symmetry. I will show that in the case of Hilbert modular varieties, the weights can be further refined into what is called plectics weights. It provides evidence of the plectic conjectures of Nekovar and Scholl.
