If you have a question about this talk, please contact Ivan Smith. Two four-dimensional manifolds are said to be CP2 - stably diffeomorphic if one can take connected sums of either manifold with copies the complex projective plane, with either orientation, after which they become diffeomorphic. I will explain how to classify manifolds up to this relation. I may also discuss the closely related question of stabilisations with copies of S2 x S2.
