I will investigate some applications of the Ricci flow to problems encountered in theoretical physics. I will start with a brief introduction to the Ricci flow, then go on to demonstrate how it may be used to construct a `path of steepest descent’ in the space of Riemannian metrics, explicitly finding a steepest descent path joining the Taub-NUT and Taub-Bolt metrics.
