SciSoc Talk: Dame Julia Slingo

People love nothing more than to talk about the weather. . .On tuesday Scisoc will welcome Dame Julia Slingo to do just that.

Dame Julia, a climate scientist and meterologist, is the Chief Scientist at the Met office and Director of Climate Research at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science. After being first female Professor of Meterology in the UK, Dame Julia also became the first female President of the Royal Meterological Society, and has won numerous awards, including the prestigious International Meteorological Organization Prize from the World Meteorological Organization.

As Chief Scientist at the Met office she is responsible for providing scientific and technical strategy, with her expertise being in climate modelling, tropical weather and climate change and its impact.

Join us on Tuesday for what will be an fascinating talk to learn more about the trials of short-term and long-term weather forecasting!

As usual, £2 entry with the oppoortunity to buy lifetime membership on the night for £15. There will be a chance to question Dame Julia more afterwards over wine and cheese. .
