Four years ago Wadsley proved that pseudo-null modules of Iwasawa algebras of finite-by-nilpotent pro-p groups had trivial Euler characteristic. Following this, he proposed a conjecture on the Euler characteristics of modules of low dimension. In this talk we shall give the background to this conjecture, including a brief overview of these algebras, discuss problems that arise in trying to generalise Wadsley’s methods to the soluble case, and describe what can be said after we have navigated them.

This talk is part of the Algebra and Representation Theory Seminar series.
