Extending the perturbation theory of spacetimes to higher dimensions

Perturbation theory plays a very important role in the study of 4d spacetimes and their properties. After describing in some detail some of the celebrated result in this field, such as Teukolsky’s decoupling result, I shall explain how these results and techniques can be generalised to higher dimensions.
