I will review recent progress in understanding the cosmological evolution of interacting string networks, like those produced at the end of the inflationary phase in brane inflation models. Emphasis will be given to analytic models for network evolution, taking into account the effects of extra dimensions, quantum intercommutation probabilities, string junctions and kinematic constraints.
