Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) is an attempt to formulate a quantum theory of General Relativity by using the canonical framework, which recently has received a lot of attention. I will give an overview of the principles and ideas behind this attempt. Along the lines of this theory, several choices are made, and I will present the history and motivations that lie behind those choices. I will talk about the achievements of LQG , about problems encountered, and time permitting, about future developments and connections to the Spin Foam approach, which is believed to be a covariant path integral for LQG .
