We will give an overview of the theory of Semple jet bundles, and will apply it to present a simple proof of the Kobayashi conjecture. The statement is that a general hypersurface of high degree in complex projective space is Kobayashi hyperbolic (i.e. without entire curves). The proof is based on recent ideas of Damian Brotbek, combined with a new construction of Wronskian sections dues to the lecturer. This method provides the best effective bounds known at this date, and also apply to the logarithmic case.
