If you have a question about this talk, please contact Caucher Birkar. We will give an overview of the theory of Semple jet bundles, and will apply it to present a simple proof of the Kobayashi conjecture. The statement is that a general hypersurface of high degree in complex projective space is Kobayashi hyperbolic (i.e. without entire curves). The proof is based on recent ideas of Damian Brotbek, combined with a new construction of Wronskian sections dues to the lecturer. This method provides the best effective bounds known at this date, and also apply to the logarithmic case. This talk is part of the Algebraic Geometry Seminar series.
