RoCK blocks were an important tool in proving Broue’s abelian defect group conjecture for symmetric groups that was proved in two papers (Chuang-Kessar, Chuang- Rouquier). Turner then generalised this to finite general linear groups. I will talk about my own work on RoCK blocks for other finite classical groups and the hope that RoCK blocks also exist for double covers of symmetric groups.

This talk is part of the Algebra and Representation Theory Seminar series.
