I will discuss strong approximation for algebraic varieties over the rational numbers, before focusing on a special family of varieties defined by norm forms which can be analysed using methods from analytic number theory. This permits the verification of (a special case of) a recent conjecture due to Harpaz and Wittenberg with consequences for the study rational points on fibrations. This is joint work with Damaris Schindler.
