If you have a question about this talk, please contact Julian Brough. A Saturated Fusion System over a finite p-group S is a category whose objects are the subgroups of S and whose morphisms are the monomorphisms between subgroups which satisfy certain axioms, first formulated by Puig and motivated by conjugacy relations among p-subgroups of a given finite group. The aim of this talk is to give an introduction to Fusion Systems. First I will give the definition of the fusion category of a group, and I will explain how to generalize it to get the definition of an abstract Saturated Fusion System. Next, I will talk about the classification of Saturated Fusion Systems and I will give some new results. This talk is part of the Junior Algebra and Number Theory seminar series.
