If you have a question about this talk, please contact Sean Moss. Two seemingly different theories, one in algebra, the other in topology, have long been observed to be strongly linked. These are the theories of Galois groups (and field extensions) and of fundamental groups (and covering spaces). The aim of the talk is to explore this relation along Grothendieck lines, with a short word on modern applications. This talk is part of the Junior Category Theory Seminar series.
