If you have a question about this talk, please contact David Stewart. Jucys-Murphy elements for the partition algebras were defined by Halverson and Ram in terms of a diagram basis for the partition algebras. In this talk, we will show how a recursion for these Jucys-Murphy elements can be used to derive a new presentation for the partition algebras. Using this presentation we then obtain formulae for the irreducible representations of the partition algebras, analogous to Young’s seminormal form for the group algebra of the symmetric group.
