In accordance with the Langlands philosophy, Arthur outlined a conjectural description of the discrete part of the automorphic spectrum in terms of “A-parameters”. We will explain his conjecture and present a proof, in certain cases, for the least degenerate non-tempered A-parameters on the split group G₂.
