An algebraist's introduction to spectral sequences

Spectral sequences are a tool for calculating (co)homology. I will start by describing the spectral sequence of a (finitely) filtered complex, and will then apply this construction to give a description of a spectral sequence of a 1st quadrant double complex. If time permits, I will also discuss examples.
