If you have a question about this talk, please contact Richard Freeland. In the modular case, determining the structure of the tensor product of two simple modules of a reductive group, L(m) x L(n), is not a trivial task. The problem has been “solved” in the case G=SL_2 and G=SL_3. In this talk I will motivate briefly how the problem of computing L(m) x L(n) can be reduced to the restricted weights, and work through an example or two of how to calculate the structure of these modules. Along the way we will encounter combinatorial ways to compute the blocks of SL_2, standard modules, costandard modules, tilting modules, and their cores.
