If you have a question about this talk, please contact Stacey Law. Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras can at first seem unwieldy. By gradually encountering different algebras, and focusing on the combinatorial side of things, I aim to show how they fit into the representation theory of the symmetric group, and how they are really not quite as difficult to work with as their presentation implies. Using a diagrammatic presentation, I will describe some particularly ‘nice-looking’ homomorphisms between Specht modules of Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras.
