If you have a question about this talk, please contact Christopher Thomas. I present recent work aimed at extracting high-precision calculations of nucleon matrix elements, such as that of the axial-vector charge, from lattice QCD . In particular, I emphasize the need to remove the contribution of excited nucleon states to the matrix elements, and compare and contrast a variety of means to accomplish that: the use of the variational method, calculations at a range of nucleon source-sink separations, and the use of distillation. I conclude with prospects for future work on matrix elements, and in particular calculations at the physics light-quark masses. This talk is part of the Lattice field theory informal seminars series.
