In this talk, we will discuss a large deviation theory for some velocity jump processes. From a PDE point of view, we study the evolution of small populations in a kinetic transport equation with scattering. The boundedness of the velocity space has a crucial influence on the behaviour of the large deviation potential. This work is originally motivated by collective motion of bacteria.

This talk is part of the Geometric Analysis & Partial Differential Equations seminar series.
