For a regular variety over an imperfect field, we study the behavior of the canonical bundle under purely inseparable base changes. We obtain some applications over algebraically closed fields of positive characteristic: a general fiber of a Mori fiber space is rationally chain connected, and a K-trivial fibration with non-normal fibers is uniruled like quasi-elliptic fibrations.
