If you have a question about this talk, please contact Yongjiang Shi. Svetan Ratchev from the University of Nottingham is going to share his research and thoughts about the new manufacturing. The presentation will report on a multidisciplinary research approach in developing the theoretical foundations for next generation manufacturing systems that can self-build, adapt and evolve as a function of changing complex networks of product requirements, processes and environment interactions in a predictable, measured and responsive way. The research approach is predicated on an innovative intertwining of several fundamental research challenges in complex collective adaptive systems including product-process-system evolution, cloud technologies, data analytics, agent-based control, emergence engineering, and open manufacturing. Svetan Ratchev is a Cripps Professor of Production Engineering at the University of Nottingham. He is the Director of the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Head of the Centres for Aerospace Manufacturing and Precision Manufacturing. He researches and consults in different aspects of manufacturing systems, assembly automation, process modelling and simulation, manufacturing informatics and precision manufacture with current research project portfolio in excess of £14 million and publication record of over 150 publications including over 70 journal papers. Svetan is a Fellow of IMechE, member of the IFAC technical committees TC5 .1 and TC5 .2 and the founding chair of the International Precision Assembly Seminar IPAS . This talk is part of the Manufacturing Research Forum series. This talk is included in these lists:
