Newton-Okounkov bodies are convex bodies associated to line bundles that describe the vanishing behaviour of all sections along a certain flag of subvarieties. As such they also have numerous applications outside of algebraic geometry, for instance in representation theory or combinatorics. The purpose of this talk is to study interesting functions on Newton-Okounkov bodies, and describe some connections to classical algebraic geometry and Diophantine approximation.

This talk is part of the Algebraic Geometry Seminar series.
