If you have a question about this talk, please contact Christopher Brookes. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of decomposable Specht modules for the symmetric group and its Hecke algebra deformation, including a recent result with Bessenrodt and Bowman. I will then cover joint work with Liron Speyer on the decomposability of Specht modules indexed by bihooks for the Hecke algebra of type B from the perspective of the cyclotomic KLR algebra. Finally, if time permits, I will close with our currrent work on determining which of these decomposable Specht modules are semisimple.
