Diffusion limit for a system of hard spheres

In this talk we shall show how to pass from a large system of small, interacting spheres, to the heat equation in the limit when the number of spheres goes to infinity (in the low density regime). The proof uses the convergence to the linear Boltzmann equation as an intermediate step.

This is a joint work with Thierry Bodineau and Laure Saint-Raymond.
