I will discuss some constructions of random measures via multiplicative cascades and Gaussian multiplicative chaos. In particular, I will be interested in the special case of Liouville quantum gravity, where the density of the measure corresponds in some sense to the “exponential” of a 2d Gaussian free field. I will talk about a new construction of this measure using “local sets” of the field, which is based on the classical multiplicative cascades approach. This is joint work with Juhan Aru and Avelio Sepulveda.
