Dealing with data – big and small – has become an integral part of our digital society. Industry, science, politics and individuals are constantly generating data. One of the most important tools for making sense of the data are visualizations. Creating visualizations is not only a technical challenge – it is also a design challenge. In my talk I will argue that in order to create meaningful, interactive and aesthetic data visualizations, they need to be crafted by designers who understand data, programming, statistics as well as visual communication and interaction design.
