Inference for Change-Point and Related Processes

It is widely recognized that long-term changes in the Earth’s climate system and ecosystems exhibit abrupt changes, thresholds and nonlinearities in their behaviour. In this talk, the different types of abrupt changes in the climate system and ecosystems and the forcing-response relationship producing them will be reviewed. The usefulness of change-point detection techniques to identify these abrupt changes will be demonstrated through applications. Finally, future development needs will be discussed.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
