Imagine you picked n people from the population and mapped out their ancestry using a tree, where two lines of descent join when there is a common ancestor. For some models of these trees it is known that many lines of descent join up in an infinitesimal time. This talk will present recent results about how these trees behave in this infinitesimal time.
