We discuss the possibility of creating a practical holomorphic functional calculus for bounded operators and elements in Banach algebras. We start by creating an explicit representation for the resolvent which reduces the evaluations of Cauchy integrals into residue calculus at a finite number of known points (and not at the spectrum).
