The Cambridge Network, in association with Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), is delighted to be able to extend an invitation to all Members of the Cambridge Network to hear Dr Susan Robinson speak at this year’s prestigious Addenbrooke’s Annual Lecture and Reception.

Dr Susan Robinson (pictured) is Clinical Director of Emergency Department at Addenbrooke’s, and she will be lecturing on the subject of modern Emergency Medicine: A Matter of Life or Death. Dr Robinson has worked at Addenbrooke’s for 16 years and has a particular interest in ED design, emergency preparedness and patient safety. She will describe the breadth and depth of emergency care in a modern ED using real-life scenarios, highlight the pivotal role of an ED as an interface between hospital and community and make comparisons between a ‘real ED’ and television’s ER.

Dr Robinson qualified in 1985 from Westminster Medical School, London and initially trained in general and respiratory medicine in London before transferring to the relatively new speciality of Accident and Emergency Medicine. She then moved to East Anglia as a Senior Registrar before taking up a consultant post in 1995. She is currently the clinical director of the emergency department and an associate medical director with responsibility for patient safety. Outside of Addenbrookes she is a senior examiner for the College of Emergency Medicine (CEM) and Chair of the Regional Board of the CEM . She sits on the Integrated Trauma System Project Board, recently established by the EoE Strategic Health Authority and represents the CEM at the Department of Health in regard to pandemic flu.
