Dr Weir will discuss the latest findings from a study of nearly four million children in the United Kingdom using data from the National Pupil Database. It investigates whether students with SEN are more likely to become disengaged with the educational system during adolescence (specifically whether they are more likely to become NEET , ‘Not in Employment, Education, or Training’). The study also evaluates the efficacy of the ‘Raising the Minimum Participation Age’ Policy in the United Kingdom and identifies core demographic and social factors that may relate to educational disengagement for students with SEN .
