I’ll give an introductory discussion of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities in the framework of finite dimensional quantum mechanics (following Kastoryano and Temme), and try to motivate why they are interesting and useful in this setting. I’ll give a longer version of this introduction at the Workshop on Quantum Functional Inequalities on June 11 in Toulouse, France.
