Machine Learning Tutorial Lecture
This talk will not be primarily about machine learning. It will be a primer on information retrieval, introducing some of the ideas which are common in the field, both from the point of view of practical systems and with regard to theory and experimentation. Some pragmatic constraints on real systems affect what kinds of models might in the end be useful. I will attempt to analyse what aspects of this domain might need or be susceptible to some form of learning, as well as some of the complexities which might make learning difficult.
This talk is part of the Machine Learning @ CUED series.
