Biography: Georg Gottlob is a Professor of Computing Science at Oxford University and an Adjunct Professor at TU Wien. His research interests are in database theory (in particular, query languages), ontological reasoning, web information processing, constraint satisfaction problems, and computational complexity. He developed new techniques and systems for Web data extraction and founded the Vienna-based Lixto Company (lixto.com). He received the Wittgenstein Award, a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award, and, more recently, a 2009 ERC Advanced Investigators Grant. He is a Fellow of ACM and ECCAI , a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the German National Academy of Sciences, and Academia Europaea. He is on the Editorial Board of CACM and of the Journal of Computer and Systemk Sciences. He was the Program Chair of PODS 2000 and of IJCAI 2003 .
