Quantum cohomology is an algebraic structure that encodes rich enumerative information about an algebraic variety or an almost Kähler manifold. The associativity of its product has deep implications and beautiful geometric interpretations. In this talk, I will introduce some of these ideas and, if time permits, discuss a recent study on the quantum cohomology of certain local Calabi–Yau surfaces.
