SSDW05 - Modelling and Applications of Anomalous Diffusions

In this talk, I will discuss a specific property of heterogeneous subdiffusion-reaction systems that there is no universal model describing reactions in subdiffusive media. It turned out that the coarse-grained fractional subdiffusion-reaction equations depend on the details of the underlying microscopic random walk models. The problem arises from the memory effects of subdiffusive transport systems. Due to these effects, the reaction can change the transport operator for the subdiffusion process. I will give several examples from physics and biology.
