WHTW02 - WHT Follow on: the applications, generalisation and implementation of the Wiener-Hopf Method The Wiener-Hopf method has been successfully applied to many different problems involving scattering by floating or submerged elastic plates. In this talk I will present an application motivated by the extraction of wave energy by floating piezoelectric plates which generalises this earlier work. The model used applies to many other floating structures in which energy is extracted by bending and has wide application; for example, models the absorption of energy by a floating viscoelastic layer. I will present simulations in the time domain and discuss the possibility of wave energy converters based on this design paradigm.
