MMVW04 - Modelling non-Markov Movement Processes In this presentation, I would like to share insights into our animal movement monitoring project: what motivated us, the approaches we employed, and how they evolved over time. I will provide an overview of the theoretical framework we started with during my PhD research and how we incorporated real movement data. I will discuss radio telemetry techniques (their advantages and disadvantages), the development of equipment by our group (along with its pros and cons), and some of the field results we have obtained so far. Additionally, I will talk about our collaboration with ICTP with whom we have implemented the use of TinyML kits, machine learning techniques for classifying animal behavior in embedded systems. Lastly, I will take you through various projects I have been involved in (during my postdoctoral work in Palma de Mallorca and subsequently, adapting transmitters for use with bumblebees, analyzing movement data of Ruddy-headed Goose, and adapting our animal monitoring equipment for imminent use with lizards, among others).
