The EU is preparing to introduce several new AI-related regulations, including the EU AI Act and the Digital Markets Act, which may result in significant implications for the field. In this session, I will give a brief no-prior-knowledge-needed introduction to these upcoming regulatory frameworks, followed by a discussion. We will discuss potential implications both for commercial efforts and for research, and touch on various recent ‘hot topics’ around LLMs, profitability, and various open letters.
