I will discuss a theory of “derived rings” (a nonconnective generalization of animated or simplicial commutative rings) and their connection with affine stacks in the sense of Toën. Based on joint work with Bhargav Bhatt, work of Arpon Raksit, and joint work with Shubhodip Mondal.
