Research can often involve collaboration with people in other departments or universities. For example, we might create research software or write papers with others.
In this talk, I introduce various software tools designed to facilitate such collaboration. I build upon Mark Williamson’s previous talk on the git revision control system by considering how to use git with online repositories to develop code collaboratively. I also discuss some tools that can help us write papers with others (e.g. slack, overleaf, git with latex).
