HTL - Homology theories in low dimensional topology Given a knot K in the 3-sphere, we use Heegaard Floer d-invariants to give lower bounds on the first Betti number of a non-orientable surface in the 4-ball with boundary K, strengthening earlier work of Batson. An amusing feature of our bound is its superadditivity with respect to connected sums. This is joint work with Marco Marengon. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
