The presentation tries to answer lots of ‘Why’ questions, i.e. gain an understanding of the reasons behind lots of design choices made in Bitcoin and other systems. And it encourages even more ‘Why’ questions from the audience. It also has an ‘introductory topics’ section, with material on cryptographic hash functions, Byzantine fault-tolerance, digital signatures, Merkle trees.

This talk is part of the Technical Talks - Department of Computer Science and Technology series.
