Abstract
We hear much about the impending rise of nano-machines, but is this science or science fiction? In this talk Professor Jeremy Baumberg FRS , Director of the Nanophotonics Centre at the University of Cambridge will discuss the state of this field, highlighting recent advances, and mapping our progress.
Jeremy Baumberg is widely recognised as a leading innovator in his field: in 2013, he won the Physics Young Medal, and a fellowship with the Royal Society in 2011. He has developed new devices within Hitachi and IBM , and particularly interested in the development of nanostructured optical materials.
As usual, the talk will be followed by wine and cheese The talk is free to members, and Β£2 for non-members – there will be the opportunity to buy lifetime membership for Β£15 on the night.
