Using digital tools to foster learning

Dr Mahajan will talk about about MIT ’s digital residential education, pedagogical features of digital tools that help learning, and collaboration. He will discuss some specific questions about MITx, and about the open source tool NB that they have developed for collaborative working by students.

Dr Mahajan was formerly a fellow at Corpus Christi College and lectured in the Cavendish Laboratory. He is the author of two books – on qualitative methods in mathematics for solving physics problems, and on estimation methods of understanding physics (the basis of the estimation evenings we run in Cambridge, started by him). He has been heavily involved in e-learning on his return to Cambridge, Mass. as well as completing books.
