We have previously shown that Feline Calicivirus binds to it’s cellular receptor JAM -1 on the outer face of the P-domain of the capsid protein VP1 and that upon doing so undergoes conformational changes. We hypothesise that these changes to the capsid structure may be the first step of the uncoating pathway. In my talk I will discuss the results of our efforts to improve the resolution of this structure and some of the challenges posed. I will also go on to discuss our aims of using tomographic reconstruction methods to investigate virus entry and uncoating in CRFK cells.
